Day 29 Pill 29

   Hi all its been a few days. I have been doing real good, last night I got to walk 2 miles. On Sunday I did about 1/2 mile up hill non stop. Do to the weather out side right now I will not be walking tonight but I will get 15 to 20 minutes on the glider. I have been very hesitant about running sense I got the news about my blood pressure ( me freaking out ) I plan on walking on nice outside days through next week then on march 18th I am going to start  running. On Friday the 11th I am having a lump removed from my back, so running is out of the question for 1 week.
    I got some really good news from the doctors today I went in for my 30 day follow up since I started taking blood pressure medecian  and she ( the medical technician ) said perfect. My blood pressure was  122 over 70. Yahoo......
   My wife has been really good about helping me change my diet ( cutting out salt ). With a low salt diet I am finding my taste buds changing, things I didn't like in the past are all of a sudden not tasting bad at all.

Day 24 Pill 24

Hi all this is what I had for dinner tonight. Looks good, It was. Its called Thai Chopped Chicken Salad from Panera Bakery. My wife and I went there for dinner tonight.

Next Friday I am going to have minor back surgery so I will be down for the weekend. So I thought it would be nice for us to get out for a little while. After dinner we went to a new health store in Happy Valley called New Seasons (lots of good stuff ).

Today the rain came down all evening not good for walking or running. Looks like it the glider tonight. my wife made me a smoothie for breakfast today only 50 milligrams(mg) of salt. for lunch I had a Subway sandwich and you are looking at the salad I had for dinner. Be blessed. Have a great day.

Day 22 Pill 22

Well the day is over for me time for bed.  So oatmeal and milk for breakfast is 270 mega grams (mg). I haven't figured out how much is in the sandwich wrap yet but I will. I switch between turkey and beef wraps, we get them at Winco they come 2 to a container. I take 1 for my lunch. I found some some Bite size Frosted Shredded Wheat that is 0 mg of salt ( guess what  my new snacks is) . Haven't gone out walking yet but I did get 25 minutes on the glider tonight. Dinner was amazing, my wife made this home made Chicken pot pie. It was good, good, good. I am so blessed.  My wife is an amazing cook. She is helping me in so many ways to bring down my blood pressure, She has been meeting me at the door every night when I get home from work and greeting me with a smile and  a kiss. She is amazing...... Tomorrow if the weather holds I will venture out for a walk when I get home from work.  Have a blessed day...

Day 21 Pill 21

Hi there its been a few days. If you read my last post you remember I hurt my foot, Well its getting better. I still cant walk very far but I managed to get 15 minutes in on the glider last night. I 'll jump on it again tonight for a few minutes. Did you know just about every thing out there (food wise) has salt in it. My wife has got me looking at everything. The other day I thought I was doing real good when I had Toast and jam the jam being 5 mega grams (mg) of salt. The bread is 170 mg for 2 slices. WOW. I have  been trying to keep my salt intake down to 1000 mg a day. So Here is what I had today for breakfast I had this Fruit and vegetable drink that my wife made me in the blender i think the only salt in it was the orange juice (20mg). She just told me the whole drink was 50mg. and a glass of milk (135mg) with my vitamin's. For lunch I had A low salt 6inch Subway Sandwich and 20 ounces of tea (20mg) none of my snacks today had salt in or on them. for dinner i had a small helping of the low salt Mexican casserole. it was made with boiled chicken instead of meat, it is real good. and a glass of milk (135mg) Well i think I did OK today. Day 17 Pill 17

Hi there I've been home sick in bed for the past 2 days, have not done anything but sleep. That would be days 15 and 16. Today is day 17 and I haven't taken pill 17 yet. I will take that at 8:30 tonight. I had some time so I thought I would try to catch up. My salt intake for Wednesday was good, oatmeal and milk for breakfast carrots and celery for morning snack leftover sub-way sandwich for lunch and apple and a orange for afternoon snack. for dinner I had left over low salt bean burritos that my wife made  the night before last. Then I went to bed for the next 24 hours. So now we have made it to yesterday. All I had to eat yesterday was 4 pieces of wheat toast no butter with blackberry jam. For dinner I had a no salt home made mix vegetable soup with 2 pieces of toast.  The brief time I was up having dinner (which my amazing wife made)  I managed to stub one of my toes on my right foot. I hit it bad enough that I had a limp all day at work, No walking tonight, will see what happens on the glider... See you tomorrow have a blessed day...

Day 14 Pill 14

Hi there a short note before I get started, After yesterdays post I jumped on the glider for 15 minutes.  Today started at 4:00 AM out the door at 4:40 and in the Truck at 5:00.  I started  today with a bowl of oatmeal and a glass of milk. My snacks today where carrots, celery, a apple and a orange.  For lunch I had a turkey wrap. For dinner I met my amazing wife at Sub-way, They have 3 low salt sandwiches and I had 1. After dinner I went for a 4 mile walk again stopping at 3 miles and checking my blood pressure. Still a little high but coming down  132 over 79 heart beat of 80.  wow I just thought about how high it was 2 weeks ago. Be blessed  and have a great day....

Day 13 Pill 13

Today I'm taking a break. I help with Church setup. just putting out signs I walk around a mile.  No morning meal, Had a glass of milk with my vitamins. At church we have snacks after  service, I had some carrots and 2 little sandwiches( about 2 inches of a sub sandwich). went to my mothers house for dinner had about 4 ounces of beef and 2 helpings of salad and drank a lot of water... Day 12 Pill 12

Today was a very good day, I didn't have to work, The Sun was out and the sky was blue and most of the clouds were hiding.  A great day. My Wife and I took Her parents on a lunch cruise on the river for there 25 wedding anniversary. God is so good we could not have had a better day. It was so nice to just sit and relax and enjoy the sights.  So today I got to walk, I walked 4 miles and check my blood pressure still a little high but coming down 131 over 71 with a heart beat of 76.  Ive had about 40 ounces of water today 24 ounces of milk and about16 ounces of tea, Lunch on the Cruise well it was good.... for dinner I had a salad. today is not over so I will get at least 20 minutes on the glider. Day 11 Pill 11

Hi there, I think I'm going to have to change the title after day 30, But for now I'm going to do day number pill number. Today is Friday and I'm still here. Work was good today, took that Truck I was having trouble with to the action today and guess what... yep I had more problems with it but I made it there. The weather has not been very good for me to get any walking in outside. so the glider is all I've been doing the last few days. good and not good, I know that exercise is a big part of helping me get my blood pressure down, but the other part is the food I eat. Iv been really looking at my salt intake. You know I said I stopped drinking soda and started drinking tea, well it seems the tea I chose wasn't so good for me. Brisk Ice tea taste good but the sodium is 65 grams per serving and there are 4 servings in 1 liter bottle and I drink the whole thing in about 2 hours. Coke you know the real thing is only 45 grams per serving. Well no more brisk tea I will now be drinking Arizonan sweet tea its only 10 grams per serving, (ever little bit helps). I had a salad for dinner and did 20 minutes on the glider.

Day 10 Pill 10

Thursday, Another different day at work. I was sent to Eugen to pickup a Truck to bring up to Troutdale with plans to take it to the action on Friday. Well the journey from Eugen to Troutdale started out wrong from the start. number 1 the truck was suppose to be ready when I got there. 2 and a half hours after I arrived I finally hit the road. What should have taken 2 and a half hours took over 4. 20 miles after I left Eugen I stoped to check things out, And found a very very hot wheel. so for the next 120 miles I drove 20 miles stopped and let the wheel cool off 20 minutes drove 20 miles stopped to cool off. What a trip.... After work today I took my jeep back to the shop, and they finally got all the work done to it.  Yahoo... today was not a good day for exercise the only real exercise I got was climbing in and out of a big truck about 100 times. no glider tonight. the weather has not been good for walking or running the past 4 days. Day 9 Pill 9

Today is Wednesday. a very different day at work, I moved a truck 100 miles north to the truck auction, when I got Back into town I did a road test for a potential new driver, and finished my day loading a chip trailer. On my way home I stop ed by the tire store to get my frontend aligned and a oil change. 2 hours later they told me they didn't have a part for my jeep that I paid for yesterday so the said the oil change was free and could I bring it back tomorrow. well you know what I am going to be doing after work tomorrow...  its time for me to hit the glider  for 10 and go to bed. hope your day was blessed.

Day 7 Pill 7

To day is Valentines day. I took the day off from walking, was going to but got back to late from dinner with my amazing Wife. We had a real good time. We had our first kiss on Valentines day 22 years ago, and a million or so kisses later here we are.  You know I just don't love my wife after all those years I'm in love with my wife  after all these years. she maid me laugh tonight "out loud".  She is amazing..we had a nice dinner we both had  Chinese chicken Oriental salad , its one of my wife's favorite dishes. I did 10 minutes on the glider. I fined that even 10 minutes on the glider helps me sleep at night. so good night I pray you all had a great day, be blessed.

Day 5 Pill 5

Hi there this is a late post to Saturday. Today started out with a 4 mile walk stopping for a blood pressure check at mile 3. 146 over 79 getting lower but still high. I also did 20 minutes on the glider.  Today was my friend Dave s Wedding and I had the honor of being his best man . It was a assume ceremony very much God centered. very cool. My food intake for the day was good. I actually didn't eat very much food today, a small bowl of soup before the wedding and 5 small meat balls around 4 pm. and a grilled cheese sandwich at midnight. be blessed, have a good day

Day 4 Pill 4

Hi there today is Friday (TGIF). It was an interesting day at work today, not much to do so they asked me to move some equipment. I am the backup Tow truck driver and the normal driver is usually off on Fridays.  So I got to tow a truck today, fun fun... but it turned out to be a long day I got off at 5:30. the good thing is I made up 1 of the 2 hours I lost yesterday, The bad news is one of my driver friends asked me to be the Best man at his wedding and rehearsal was at 6:30. I maid it on time...  I didn't get to walk tonight but I did work out on the Glider for 20 minutes. No blood pressure check today. I'll try to do it tomorrow or Sunday. The Hood 2 Coast is in August and I will be ready. we are planning on doing some practice runs in March as a team, that will be fun. I'll tell you more about the team soon.  Have a Blessed Day

Day 3 Pill 3

Hi there, Today was a good day. No side effects  to the medication I am taking. That is a good thing. Work was slow today I actually got off 2 hours early. Good yet not good, 2 hours of overtime is good money.. But that's OK every thing will work out. So today after work I walked 3 miles, at the 2 mile mark I just happened to be at Rite Aid so I stoped in and checked my blood pressure still high but down a little more 149 over 82. my food intake today was good  oatmeal for breakfast, beef sandwich wrap for lunch and carrots for my afternoon snack and for dinner I had a salad with a little bit of sliced ham. My fluid intake for today has been 2 glasses of milk, 60 ounces of water, 32 ounces of tea with lemon and 1 cup of hot chocolate. Oh I had 5 cookies and 2 peaces of dark chocolate. Day 2 Pill 2

My day started  at 4am today. but before I go on I need to add to yesterday. My blood pressure was  186 over 107 stage 2 hypertension, not good. I did something in the office that I didn't tell my wife when I got home. when the medical assistant (MA) took my blood pressure and said it was high, I didn't freak out like I should have. when the MA left the room I prayed peace over my body and tried to relax and wait for the doctor to come in to the room.  After the doctor was done with me the MA came back in and cleaned out my ears which is what I went in there for in the first place. When she got done I asked her to take my blood pressure one more time, at that point it was still high but it had come down 11 points to 175 over 105. guess I needed 2 more hours of prayer to be normal...   Well what did I do today that was different then yesterday, no changes to my morning meal. but my lunch needed to go through a major change I was doing my daily salt intake in 1 meal my lunch so today I had no crackers no soda 4 cookies instead of 7. I traded the soda for tea and the crackers for carrots and my after noon snack was a apple and a banana. My dinner was soup and salad.  My wife said I needed to be careful not to use to much salad dressing, although the salad is good for you the salad dressing is not. she said 2 table spoons is all I should use and I found 1 was enough for my salad tonight. so what did I do for exercise today, when I got home from work I went for a 2 1/2 mile walk and did the glider for 20 minute's. On my walk  I went by Rite Aid and checked my  blood pressure still high but falling, I plan on checking it about every 3 days today it was 161 over  91.

Pill 1 Day 1

To day I was told I had High Blood Pressure.Wow...So today my life style changes. I am going to keep track of my food (salt ) intake and do some type of exercise every day. I am running in the 2011 Hood 2 Coast this year and I want to live to see the finish line. So I plan on keeping track of my running and physical activity through the day, We will start with my job. I drive for a local truck company and if I want to keep my job I need to get my blood pressure down and under control. My job is not that physical, but when I broke it down it sounds quite physical. imagine sitting at your work desk for 35 minutes getting up and going down 4 steps walking 150 feet climbing those 4 steps sitting down. Waite 3 minutes and do it again down 4 steps walking 150 feet up 4 steps and sit at your desk for 35 minutes. Now do that for 11 hours. that's what I do 5 days a week only my desk is a very big truck weight over 100,000 lbs.  So at 8:30 to night I took my first High blood pressure pill. I have to go back and see my Doctor in 30 days.
